February 13th, 2012 at 11:43pm, a traffic accident occured on Springs Rd. The communication center advised that a vehicle had struck a residence and there were possible injuries. St. Stephens Fire Department arrived to find a single vehicle accident. The vehicle was off the roadway on its top into a residence. One patient was out of the vehicle lying on the ground. EMS arrived and provided patient care and patient transport to the hospital. Fire department personnel evaluated the damage and removed fire hazards. The vehicle and the structure obtained moderate damage. The occupant of the residence escaped with no injuries. Fire Department personnel requested the Catawba County USAR Team to respond and assist in securing the structure once the vehicle was removed. A representative from Catawba County Building Inspections also responded to evaluate the damage and to assure the residence was safe for the occupant to return. North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded and was on the scene to investigate the accident.
