On Saturday the St. Stephens Fire Softball team participated in the 1st Annual Alexander County Honor Guard Classic Softball Tournament. The tournament was organized to raise money for the Alexander County Honor Guard. Teams participating were Catawba County Sherriffs Dept., St. Stephens Fire, Taylorsville Fire, Hiddenite Fire, Alexander County EMS, and Alexander County Sherriffs Dept. The tournament was held at the Dusty Ridge ball field where games were played on two fields. Teams playing were eliminated by a double loss. Games began at 8 am and went on well into the evening hours. The final championship game was played around 7 pm between the Catawba County and Alexander County Sherriffs Dept's. In the end Catawba County Sherriffs were the victors of the first place trophy.

This was a wonderful day filled with fun and fellowship between departments and within our own department. The St. Stephens team came together and played their hearts out and gave everything they had all the way to the end. Each player should be very proud of a job well done and the excellent manner in which they represented their department. We would like to especially thank our Coach Mark Earle and our honorary members Wayne Clark, Hope Whitley, Monica Wise and Jimmy Burns. We would also like to thank the Alaxender County Honor Guard for putting together this great event.
