At around 2:45 am on Wednesday morning, St. Stephens units were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Springs Road and County Home Road. Upon arrival units found a midsize pickup truck had struck a utility pole and the pole was broken near the bottom. The pickup truck was heavily damaged and the single occupant in the truck was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Although the pole was broken, it did not fall, and Duke Energy was called to the scene to access the damage. St. Stephens units remained on the scene until approx. 4 am keeping the intersection shut down and providing lighting for SHP investigation and wreckage removal. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
