| On the morning of September 4, at 5:20 am St Stephens Fire along with Catawba County EMS were dispatched to a structure fire at 1930 Kool Park road lot 11. The first arriving unit reported a working fire with a vehicle in the driveway. Incident command was established and operations began. The occupant of the residence was outside and advised everyone had safely made it out of the residence with the exception of the family dog. The first arriving apparatus was Engine 41, followed by Engine 45, and Truck 46; which caught the hydrant and laid a 3" supply line on their way in. The primary 1 1/2" attack line as well as the 1 1/2" back up line were pulled from Engine 41 and an interior attack as well as a primary search began. During the initial fire attack it was reported by interior crews the floor was burnt out in multiple places inside the door, however the fire was knocked down and a control time was logged. Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear the residence of smoke for salvage and overhaul. Investigation efforts began to determine the cause with the assistance from the Fire Marshall's Office. The dog was located during the primary search in the back bedroom and was deceased. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Catawba County Fire Marshall's Office. Red Cross was contacted for assisting the displaced family.
