On Thursday September 22nd and Friday September 23rd St. Stephens members gathered with the Hickory Fire Department and numerous other departments thru ought the unifour area to support all women in the battle against all cancers. The First Annual Hickory Pink Heals Tour kicked off with a parade through downtown Hickory as the pink fire trucks invaded Hickory. The parade began at the Crown Plaza on Lenoir Rhyne Blvd. and cruised through town by Lenoir Rhyne University, Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory City Hall, and ended up on Union Square where a welcome ceremony commenced welcoming the 4 pink fire trucks to our area. People from all over showed up to welcome the Pink Heals Tour and to sign their or a loved ones name on the pink fire trucks that have fought or won the battle against cancer.

On Friday the 23rd, the pink trucks went to multiple locations around the unifour to spread the word about keeping our money local to support our cancer patients and promote awareness. Some of the locations visited were: Catawba Valley Medical Center, Frye Regional Medical Center, Frye Care, Shell's Barbeque, Blue Ridge Cancer Center, and they all would finally meet at Valley Hills Mall for the grand finally. St. Stephens Fire had members and trucks standing by at Shell's Barbeque to welcome the Pink Heals Tour and help promote this wonderful movement. It was very touching to see the amount of people that came out to support loved ones who were fighting or have lost the fight against cancer. Many of the members of the St. Stephens family shared in this wonderful event to sign the pink fire trucks with names of loved ones who have fought the battle.

Dave Graybill is the founder of the Pink Heals Tour and he and other emergency service workers travel all over the nation to promote awareness for all cancers. The Pink Heals Tour-Hickory is a collaborative community initiative to assist the "Cares Enough to Wear Pink" campaign in the effort to raise awareness and money for cancer patients through local non-profit organization. 100% of the profit raised through The Pink Heals Tour-Hickory will go to Through Healing Eyes. Your generous purchase or donation stays in the community to help those in need. With the support of those that protect and serve our community, the Pink Heals Tour-Hickory is striving to help women of all ages with cancer and by promoting community awareness.

The St. Stephens Fire Department would like to thank Dave Graybill, his men and women and his fleet of pink fire trucks for the work they do and will continue to do in the future. We would also like to thank the City of Hickory, Hickory Fire Department, Darline Huffman, Hickory Police Department and all others who worked to put this event together and allowing us to be a part of it.
