| Shortly after 03:00am on Sunday April, 8, 2012 Station 4 along with 3-M-2 from Catawba County EMS were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident in the 4400 block of Springs Road. First arriving units found a single vehicle accident with the vehicle off the roadway and into a tree. Upon further investigation it was determined the occupant of the vehicle was pinned in due to the heavy damage from the tree. Station 4 began extrication and removed the passenger side door and pulled the steering column off the occupants legs using hydraulic tools. Once free, the occupant was taken by EMS to Catawba Valley Medical Center and later transfered to Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. The scene was turned over to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for investigation, station 4 returned to service. |
