| The Catawba Valley Mothers of Multiples visited St. Stephens Fire Department for a fire safety and fire prevention presentation put together by Josh Randolph and Matt Quarles at the headquarter station. The group consisted of 9 adults and 16 children. The children ranged in age from 16 months to four year olds. The children were given information on stop, drop, and roll, crawl low in smoke, exit drills in the home, the hazards of playing with fire, emergency considerations, how and when to activate the 911 system, a firefighter in turn out gear and air pack, and also given a station and truck tour. The adults received information on the proper use of fire extinguishers, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, home sprinkler and fire alarm systems, information on Catawba County 911 system, and history and information of St. Stephens Fire Department.
The Catawba Valley Mothers of Multiples Organization is a non-profit group consisting of 25 members. The group is dedicated to providing friendships, encouragement, and knowledge to mothers of twins or higher orders multiples in the Catawba Valley, NC area. The group is affiliated with the North Carolina Mother of Multiples, as well as the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs. Mothers of Multiples have monthly business meetings with a time to socialize and organize play dates, family activities, and mom's night out as well as fundraisers to raise money to support the organization and the community. |
