| The St. Stephens Fire Department sadly announces the passing of Charter member S.A. Whitener. S.A. served the department for over 35 years and finished his career with us as an honorary member. He stayed very active with us and you could always count on seeing him sitting in the corner during every meeting. S.A. was a stickler for the rules and made sure we all stayed in line. S.A. moved to South Carolina a couple years ago to be with his family and grandchildren. A price can not be put on the countless hours he dedicated to the department and the many lessons he passed down through the years. S.A. will be missed by us all, but his memory will be everlasting. Our condolences go out to the family of S.A. and we are all better people for being allowed to serve with such a fine man. A memorial service is planned in his honor and the arrangements can be found by clicking the link below.
